I ordered this bunk bed after much research because it states that it can hold 1000 lbs. It's for my son, who weighs a whole 44 pounds, but I wanted to feel secure that my husband and I could both crawl on the top bunk without worrying about any creaks or cracking sounds. I put it together by myself with relative ease. The directions are not superb and the slats were slightly too long for the bottom bunk necessitating that we cut them about .25". The bed itself feels pretty sturdy when put together, so I am pleased. I will say that I was disappointed in the manufacturer's packaging (as in there's a box and it holds the wood and that's what it is shipped in.) There's absolutely no cushioning. For this reason one of the slats for a guardrail was broken. This didn't matter to me as I was not planning on using the head of foot guardrails, but still, I like it when my items arrive without cracks or broken pieces.
